Tribeca Film Festival Sets 2020 Dates, Calls For Submissions
The 19th annual Tribeca Film Festival is slated for April 15-26.

TRIBECA, NY — The 19th annual Tribeca Film Festival is scheduled for April 15-26 next year, the festival announced.
The festival, which began in 2001 in Tribeca, called for submissions for the 2020 festival, which will officially open August 19.
The newly named festival director Cara Cusumano said in a statement, "We never fail to be surprised and inspired by the boundless creativity of independent storytellers."

"Discovering and showcasing their boundary-pushing work is truly what makes this Festival great, and we can't wait to see what surprises are in store for us this year as 2020 submissions officially open," Cusumano said.
Earlier this year, 40 percent of the festival's feature films had at least one woman as a director, according to the Festival, touting its diverse line-up. Some 29 percent of feature films were directed by people of color and 13 percent by LGBTQ+ directors.

In 2020, feature films are eligible fo the 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards — a new addition to the festival next year.
