Woman Dragged Down Stairs At Subway Station During Robbery: NYPD

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — A woman suffered head injuries after begin dragged down the stairs at a subway station during a robbery, the New York Police Department said.

A woman, 59, and man, 21, were standing inside the J train station near City Hall's Brooklyn Bridge stop when a thief tried to steal the woman's bag Sunday about 11:20 p.m., police said.

The man attempted to stop the robbery — and both were dragged down the stairs as a result, police said.

Emergency medical personnel took the two people to NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Police said the woman suffered a laceration and contusion on her head, and injuries on her knees, back and hands. The man did not have any reported injuries, police said.

Surveillance footage of the suspect released by the NYPD shows a person wearing black pants, a black jacket with a red stripe, and grey sneakers with a shaved head.
