Woman Found Dead In The East River, Police Say

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — A woman possibly in her 30s was found dead in the East River near the Seaport District Sunday night, police said.

Officers responded to calls about a person floating in the East River near Fulton Street and John Street along the waterfront Sunday about 8 p.m., according to the NYPD. NYPD's harbor units transported the woman to Pier 17, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel, and the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
