Caravan of Dreams has a large menu, including many raw vegan items, like the avo-wild greens sandwich. They also have many difficult to find herbal teas, and have decadent deserts such as the warm banana nutella royale, and a warm brownie sundae. There's a lot of seating inside so reservations usually aren't needed on weekdays.

2. Ladybird - 111 East 7th St.

Ladybird is a chic, dimly lit, cozy restaurant with a beer and wine bar. They serve healthy, large entrees such as mushroom and onion toast, and have fondues, and desert. Ladybird also has cocktails, most of which are $13. If you're looking for something a little greasier, their late-night menu (every night after 11pm) features mozzarella sticks, and buffalo fried mac and cheese. Oh and did we mention all bottles of wine are half-priced after 11pm too?


3. Quintessence - 263 E 10th St.

Health nuts rejoice! Quintessence is the only 100% raw vegan restaurant on our list. Their unique and delicious menu is full of variety, with items such as lasagna, seaweed salad, mediterranean nachos, and a spirulina shake. The restaurant is tiny, so reservations for larger groups is advised!

4. Double Zero - 65 2nd Ave.

Double Zero is owned by the renowned Chef Matthew Kenny. The pizza is all organic, baked in a wood burning oven, and topped with all fresh ingredients. The house-made cheeses include a mozzarella that's made from cashews, and a ricotta from almonds and macadamia nuts. Inside, the restaurant is dimly lit, always crowded, and fully stocked with a large selection of wine.

5. Bar Verde - 65 2nd Ave.

Next door to Double Zero, Bar Verde is another restaurant owned by Chef Matthew Kenny. But instead of pizza, the focus is on tacos and nachos. Like Double Zero, all of the ingredients are organic and fresh. Bar Verde has a full bar which showcases a wide array of sustainable tequila and mezcal.

6. Divya’s Kitchen - 25 1st Ave.

Called one of the healthiest restaurants in the city by The New York Observer, Divya's Kitchen serves a completely vegetarian menu, with many vegan options available. Vegan items here include carrot risotto, Asian stir fry, and sunflower beet humus. And to top it all off, every ingredient is made in-house.

7. Superiority Burger - 430 E 9th St.

Although it's not all vegan, Superiority Burger is totally vegetarian, and most items can be made vegan upon request. The vegan version of their signature burger, the Superiority Burger, is absolutely amazing. They're mini sized, so getting two, or a burger and their burnt broccoli salad is recommended. Don't expect to dine in, as they're only several seats in the small restaurant.

8. Avant Garden - 130 E 7th St.

Avant Garden is an upscale, rustic yet modern restaurant. Their mission is to turn patrons into vegans (if they're not already), in just one bite. The menu is divided into three sections: cold, hot, and toast. Some hot items include scorched cauliflower, and house-made rigatoni. Avant Garden also serves beer and wine.

VSPOT is a trendy, artsy, Latin comfort food restaurant. VSPOT has two locations, one in Park Slope, and the other on St. Mark's Place. Their St. Mark's location has empanadas, tostadas, quesadillas, and even avocado fries. While you're there, enjoy a beer or glass of wine, and check out the art for sale on their walls. And if you're feeling adventurous, try the virtual reality headsets at the bar on weekends.
