Peete’s Pie

Location: 505 Myrtle Ave., Clinton HIll

What to eat: Pie. The Lower East Side pie spot opened its second location in Brooklyn this month. The pie shop, which first opened in 2015, quickly became a popular spot and is known for its lengthy menu. You can order everything from lemon poppyseed chess pies to coffee and cream icebox pies. Mother Dough

Location: 72 Seventh Ave., Park Slope

Where to eat: MortherDough, which opened in Brooklyn in March, offers naturally leavened pizza with whole wheat, barley and gluten-free dough options. If you’re not in the pizza mood, the restaurant also services the “mother’s panino,” made with stracchino cheese, prosciutto parma cotto, grated cheese and extra virgin olive oil. Existing Conditions

Location: 35 W. Eighth St., Greenwich Village

What to drink: Fancy cocktails, with or without the alcohol. Existing Conditions offers standard drinks in addition to $15 nonalcoholic drinks, meaning you can get fancy concoctions without the booze, if you prefer. Existing Conditions is the second life of Whiskey Social, and even includes a lot of the bar’s old furnishings.


Broken Shaker

Location: 23 Lexington Ave., Freehand Hotel, Flatiron

What to drink: Fancy cocktails in a (very) popular new rooftop bar. Broken Shaker opened its New York location in the Freehand Hotel this month, and is already drawing steady crowds who are waiting in line to get into the bar. The bar, which first opened at the Freehand in Miami, has garnered multiple awards for its fancy cocktails and gotten spots on some of the country's best bars lists.
