Bookstore And Wine Bar Coming This Fall To The East Village

An independent bookstore serving wine, beer and coffee is coming to the East Village this fall.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A bookstore serving wine and coffee is coming soon to the East Village this fall.

Book Club Bar owners Erin Neary and Nat Esten plan to sell adult fiction, non-fiction, children's books, greeting cards and gifts, as well as coffee and wine, Neary told Patch.

They hope to create a "cozy, living room vibe" where bookworms can enjoy wine or coffee while reading, as well as open up the bookshop for community events, like readings, signings or trivia, she said.

The shop is headed to a Community Board 3 committee meeting Monday to present on its plans for the bookstore, to be located on East Third Street between avenues A and B, EV Grieve first reported. The owners are seeking a wine, beer and cider license, according to Community Board 3, which issues recommendations to the State Liquor Authority regarding neighborhood watering holes seeking liquor licenses.

Book Club Bar will be located at 197 E. Third St., where the bar No Malice Palace used to be located.
