City’s First Dog-Friendly Cafe Could Be Coming To East Village

Plans for Boris & Horton on Avenue A include space for dogs and owners to hang out.

EAST VILLAGE, NY – This cafe is throwing city dog owners a bone.

Boris & Horton is trying to become the city's first cafe tht will include space for dogs. Its owners are in the process of getting approval to open on Avenue A near East 12th Street.

One half of the cafe will serve drinks including beer and wine along with sandwiches, while the other – divided by a glass wall – will offer space for dogs and owners to hang out and shop for pet supplies, according to a job announcement posted on CraigList. The posting was later deleted.

Coppy Holzman is seeking to open the cafe with his daughter Logan Holzman. So devoted to dogs is the duo that they are naming the new cafe after their own pooches.

Borris & Horton would be taking over storefronts previously occupied by Ost Cafe and Raclette, according to East Village blog EV Grieve.

The site quoted Ost Cafe’s owners as saying it had “become too expensive to stay open any longer."
