East Village Fire Breaks Out In Avenue C Building

Firefighters are currently battling a fire in a fourth-floor apartment on Avenue C.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — At least 60 firefighters are battling a blaze in an East Village building on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

A fire broke out in a fourth-floor apartment of a building in the 200 block of Avenue C, an FDNY spokesman told Patch. About 60 firefighters are currently on scene fighting the blaze.

No injuries were immediately reported.

The fire started in a 14-story residential building. It was not immediately clear how the fire began.
