Emmy Squared’s Detroit-Style Pizza Comes To East Village

The East Village outpost boasts new creations including a New Orleans-inspired pie and pizza with a pickled Indian condiment.

EAST VILLAGE — Detroit-style pizza slinger Emmy Squared has expanded to the East Village where foodies can sink their teeth into the eatery's famed deep dish pies and a new creations.

The 83 First Avenue at Fifth Street outpost, which opened this week and is the restaurant's third location, is serving a similar menu to its popular Williamsburg original, including salads, sandwiches and thick square pies with crispy edges.

Patrons can find their favorites at the new spot including a combination of red and white pies and a gourmet version of McDonald's Big Mac called Le Big Matt. The First Avenue spot boasts new pies you can only get in the East Village, including the New Orlean-inspired "Emmyletta" made with mortadella, Ezzo pepperoni and olive salad, and the "Curry Row" pie topped with a pickled Indian condiment called achaar, peppers, onions, cauliflower and a chutney.

The eatery can seat 100 guests, but the bar's second level won't open until August. At the moment, Emmy Squared is only serving dinner. Lunch service will be available in the coming weeks.
