Free Outdoor Musical Celebration in East Village Tonight
The "Make Music Winter" parade will begin in Tompkins Square Park at 6 p.m.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — Make Music Winter is a free, outdoor musical celebration each Dec. 21 — the longest day of the year — that "turns audiences into music makers." With a diverse selection of musicians and artists, Make Music Winter aims to "transform New York’s cityscape" with 13 participatory musical parades across the five boroughs.
The East Village section of the festival will feature artist Tom Peyton leading the audience in an interactive performance entitled "Bell by Bell," now in its sixth year.
According to Make Music Winter, Peyton will distribute 70 color-coded bells to the crowd, one color per note. A team of conductors will wave corresponding colored flags to lead the group in making music.
