Global Eatery Luthun Opens In The East Village

A new restaurant, Luthun, opens Thursday in the East Village.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A new eatery with global cuisine opens Thursday in the East Village.

Luthun will open its doors July 25 at 432 E. 13th St. just west of Avenue A.

The eatery, led by the duo Nahid Ahmed and Arjuna Bull, will serve a variety of global eats with Asian, Eastern European and North African flavors.

Luthun, which means "something new and unexpected" in Bengali, is offering a vegetarian and chefs counter tasting menu influenced by global flavors.

Some dishes include crispy porridge of India, inspired by a recipe from Ahmed's family, as well as monk fish with a green curry sauce.

The 29-seat restaurant with seating at the chef's counter is slated to open this summer.

The hours will be Tuesday through Saturday, 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.
