GOLES Resiliency in The Lower East Side Free Neighborhood Walk to be Held May 26

On May 26th, from 11AM to 1PM, GOLES (the Good Old Lower East Side) leads a two hour Free Resiliency Walking Tour of the Lower East Side

New York, NY, May 22, 2016 -- On May 26, from 11 AM to 1 PM, GOLES (the Good Old Lower East Side) will lead a free two hour resiliency walking tour of the Lower East Side as part of the 4th Annual LES History Month. All NYC residents, and especially those living in the city's flood zones are cordially invited to join the group as they cover historic and current aspects of climate resilience, disaster preparedness and community-based energy solutions in the NYC neighborhoods that will be affected by storm surges. The walking tour is free of charge and open to all residents and visitors.

Topics covered during the tour will include the impact of Super Storm Sandy, the history of the land, the power of community gardens from their inception 'till now, community victories against Con Edison
that changed legislation and more!

The group will meet at 173 Avenue B, (at the corner of 11th Street) at 11AM and begin the walking tour from there. If you have any questions, please contact GOLES' Resiliency Training & Policy Coordinator Ceci Pineda at Ceci@goles.org.

Accessibility Note: The walking tour will last two hours, moving at the group's pace with frequent stops. We will cover a little under 2 miles. There are no steps involved in the route, although we will be going over
a ramped bridge to cross into the East River park.
