Infamous East Village Slumlord Steve Croman Due Back in Court Tuesday
Tenants of his buildings plan to stage a protest outside Manhattan Criminal Court Tuesday morning.

EAST VILLAGE, MANHATTAN — Steve Croman, one of the most infamous landlords in New York City, is due back in Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday, according to local blog EVGrieve. Croman is under criminal indictment by State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's office for allegedly receiving $45 million dollars in refinancing loans over three years through inflating incomes on mortgage documents. Croman is also being tried in civil court for allegedly harassing rent-controlled tenants out of their apartments.
On Tuesday at 9 a.m., several tenants of Croman's buildings plan to hold a rally outside Manhattan Criminal Court and then attend the proceedings in the 13th floor room 1322 of the court.
When Croman was last seen in court in June, his defense attorney said he was close to reaching a plea deal on the criminal case.
