Kids Will Ride For Ave B Bike Lanes In 'Kidical Mass'
A "Kidical Mass" bike ride will be held Saturday at Tompkins Square Park in support of Avenue B bike lanes.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — Kid cyclists will take to the streets this Saturday for "Kidical Mass" — modeled after "Critical Mass" rides where cyclists ride in groups to advocate for street safety.
In the East Village, families will bike about two miles starting at Tompkins Square Park, continuing the push for bike lanes along Avenue B.
Local parent and cyclist Choresh Wald, who has been working on a campaign for protected bike lanes along Avenue B, says the ride will be in support of those efforts.

Parents who bike their kids to school and other East Village cyclists have been pushing for the protected lanes along the avenue. Local politicians are in support of studying Alphabet City's avenues for protected lanes, and the Department of Transportation has committed to determining feasibility of the lanes.
The East Village ride starts at 10 a.m., with cyclists meeting at 9:30 a.m. at the southend plaza of Tompkins Square Park. They will bike to East River Park, and the ride is slow-paced and family-friendly.
