Liquor Store Thief Hits Employee In The Face With A Bottle: Cops

A liquor store thief hit an employee in the face with a bottle, police said.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A group of people stole $60 worth of liquor, but when an employee confronted them, one of the liquor store thieves struck him in the face with a bottle, according to the NYPD.

One person walked up to the liquor store clerk, 50, and began talking to him while three others took $60 in liquor Monday, April 29 about 10:50 p.m., police said.

Police said that when the employee confronted them, one of the thieves hit him in the face with a bottle at St. Mark's Wine & Liquor Store, located at 16 St. Mark's Place between Second and Third avenues.

The group ran out of the store onto St. Mark's Place towards Tompkins Square Park, police said.

The employee had minor injuries, per the NYPD.

The group included three men and one woman, police said.
