East Village Restaurant Closing On The Bowery After 15 Years

The Cuban restaurant has been a staple on the street.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — The restaurant Agozar closed its doors on Thursday night after 15 years on the Bowery.

The Cuban restaurant, located at 324 Bowery, was famous for its lengthy mojito menu and its tapas.

The restaurant announced that it would be closing in a Facebook post last month.

"After 15 years of serving the East Village and the Bowery, we would like to regretfully inform everyone that we will be closing on December 1st," the post read.

"It has been a pleasure serving the community for over a decade. Our family would like to thank our hardworking dedicated staff, our customers, and regulars for your loyalty and patronage throughout the years."

Agozar's last day in business was Thursday.

It was not immediately clear why Agozar decided to close. Numerous independently-owned restaurant and shops have closed in the East Village and beyond thanks to spiraling real estate prices and competition from larger chains.
