Lucky Cheng's Home To Become Apartment Building, Records Show

The former home of a beloved East Village drag show could become an apartment building after developer filed new plans on Thursday.

EAST VILLAGE, NEW YORK — The former site of the city’s most famous drag show will become home to seven-story apartment building, records show.

Developers who recently bought Lucky Cheng’s property at East Second Street and First Avenue for $12.25 million filed plans Thursday to build a 22-unit apartment complex on the property, Department of Buildings records show.

Rybak Development hopes to work with Zproekt Architecture to build a 19,000-square-foot, multi-use building with apartments, commercial space, a recreation room and bike parking, according to Curbed.

The development will go up on the L-shaped plot of land that encompasses Lucky Cheng’s old haunt at 24 First Ave. and 101 East 2nd St.
