Man Breaks Into 3 Buildings And Steals $34K In Merchandise: NYPD
A man was able to the manipulate the locks at three different apartment buildings and steal more than $34,000 in merchandise, police said.
EAST VILLAGE, NY — Thousands of dollars in merchandise were stolen from three different apartment buildings in the East Village and Midtown last month, according to the NYPD.
Officers are searching for a thief involved in the string of burglaries in which the robber broke into apartments by manipulating a door lock, police said.
In one instance, a man walked inside of a building near Avenue A and East Seventh Street Saturday, April 6 about 12:30 p.m., according to police. He broke into an apartment through manipulating the door lock, and stole two laptops, a watch, sunglasses and bank cards worth about $6,500, police said.

Two other instances in Midtown happened later that month.
On April 25 about 2 p.m., a thief walked into a building at Ninth Avenue and West 49th Street and stole handbags, electronics and jewelry worth $6,900, police said.

Someone stole $21,000 in electronics and jewelry at Ninth Avenue and West 48th Street on April 29 about 12:15 p.m., police said.
Officers are searching for a man they described as about 45- to 50-years-old and 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, gray sneakers and glasses, police said.
