Mugger Robs 82-Year-Old Man In His Apartment Building, Cops Say

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A man mugged an 82-year-old man inside of his apartment building in the East Village Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The mugger walked up to the man inside a residential building at East 11th Street and Second Avenue and pushed him on the ground Tuesday about 4:40 p.m., according to police.

Police said the mugger took the man's wallet from his back pocket and fled towards Second Avenue.

The man had a minor arm injury and was treated at Beth Israel Medical Center, cops said.

Police said the man's wallet contained four credit cards, $50, a driver's license and an insurance card.

Surveillance images near the robbery show the man cops are looking for wearing a black T-shirt with a purple backpack and white sneakers.

Police told Patch the mugger is not a resident of the building, and it is not known how he got inside the building.
