A New Bookstore Just Opened In The East Village
Codex bookstore opened its doors at 1 Bleecker St. this week.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A new bookstore opened in the East Village this week, offering a collection of new and used books in its space at the intersection of the Bowery and Bleecker Street.
Codex bookstore, located at 1 Bleecker St., is hosting its grand opening ceremony on Friday night. The writers Gabby Bess and Chelsea Hodson will both speak at the opening, according to a Facebook event.
The bookstore will offer used and new books with a focus on literary fiction and art, according to it website. The store will also buy gently used books.

The neighborhood lost one of its most beloved bookstores, the St. Marks Bookshop, in 2016. The longtime favorite closed after years of financial difficulties.
