New Bookstore Opens In The East Village
Karma, the bookseller and art gallery, is now open in the space previously occupied by St. Mark's Bookshop.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A new art bookstore opened in the East Village this week, in the space previously occupied by the beloved St. Mark's Bookshop.
Karma Books opened at 136 E. Third St. on Sunday. Karma distributes arts and sells art-related books throughout the city. It has another location nearby in the East Village at 188 E. Second St., as well as a location in Amangansett, New York.
St. Mark's Bookshop closed its doors on East Third Street after 38 years in the neighborhood, to the dismay of locals and book lovers throughout the city who patronized the locally-owned store. The popular shop moved from its namesake street multiple times, and spent most its life at 31 Third Ave., near Cooper Square, before it moved to the smaller storefront at 136 E. Third St.
