EAST VILLAGE, NY — The outdoor pool on Avenue D opened Thursday for the summer — with a colorful makeover including new lounge chairs and a fresh paint job.

Dry Dock Pool will be open seven a days a week through September 8 starting Thursday.

The pool got an upgrade under the Parks Department's Cool Pools NYC program — which is transforming the city's outdoor pools that have not seen renovations since they were built in the 1970s, the department said.

Last year, five pools got upgrades, and the department saw a 27 percent spike in pool-goers because of it, the Parks Department said.

"Hot on the heels of last year's five successful Cool Pools NYC location, we are ecstatic to unveil six more this year," Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver said in a statement. "We know these modern oases, with their colorful art, lounge chairs, and new greenery, will keep New Yorkers in all five boroughs cool and in style all summer long."

The Dry Dock Pool upgrades are among various parks and recreation changes on Manhattan's east side, which the department has detailed previously as mitigations for a proposed resiliency project currently going through the city's public review process.

Dry Dock Pool is located on Avenue D between 10th and 11th streets.

The pool will be open through September 8, seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Kids can get free breakfast and lunch at the pool under a partnership between Parks and the Department of Education.

Anyone 18 and under without ID or registration can get free breakfast and lunch at the Dry Dock Pool, as well as the other Cool Pools and various locations across the city.

"Our focus on the health and well-being of young people continues throughout the summer months, and we want all New Yorkers to know that we provide free breakfast and lunch across the City," Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza said in a statement.
