An off-Broadway play based on the author Cheryl Strayed's advice columns opens Monday night at the Public.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — An off-Broadway adaption of the writer Cheryl Strayed's advice columns returns to the Public Theater on Monday.

"Tiny Beautiful Things," a play based off of Strayed's advice columns, opens in the Public Theater on Monday night, after it first debuted at a smaller Public stage last year. "Tiny Beautiful Things" has been open in previews since Sept. 19.

The show stars Nia Vardalos, of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" fame, as the advice columnist Sugar, along with several other actors. Vardalos also adapted Strayed's columns for the stage.

Strayed wrote the advice column "Dear, Sugar" anonymously before she skyrocketed to fame after publishing her best-selling memoir "Wild." Strayed's book was adapted into a movie starring Reese Witherspoon in 2014.
