Report Of Human Remains In E Village Turns Up Fake Fingers: NYPD
Police responded to a report of human remains to find fake, rubber fingers, authorities said.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A report of a bag of human remains found in the East Village turned out to be a false alarm, police said.
Officers responded to a report of a bag of human remains near East 23rd Street and Avenue C at about 12:40 p.m. on Monday, an NYPD spokesman said. The bag turned out to contain fake rubber fingers, and not actual human remains, he said.
The New York Post reported that a cleaner was emptying trash in a parking garage when he stumbled across the bag of fake fingers. The cleaner opened the bag to find what he thought were pieces of a bloodied hand and fingers inside, according to the Post.
