Spring Awakening E Village Parade 2019: Street Closures, Time
What you need to know about LUNGS Spring Awakening parade and festival in the East Village.
EAST VILLAGE, NY — The East Village's Loisaida United Neighborhood Gardens Spring Awakening parade is slated for Sunday for a day of festivities — from pony rides and music to workshops on composting.
GreenThumb and Loisaida United Neighborhood Gardens are partnering with the Department of Transportation's Weekend Walks Program to open up Avenue C from 6th to 10th Sts. to pedestrians.
The East Village parade and festival celebrates the beginning of spring and the opening of the neighborhood's community gardens.

Parade start time and place:

Gather at 11:30 a.m., Sunday April 14 at El Sol Brillante community garden, on East 12th St. between Aves. A and B. Parade begins at 12 p.m.
Parade route:
The parade will begin at El Sol Brillante on East 12th St. between Aves. A and B, according to LUNGS.
The parade will continue east along East 12th St. and then south on Avenue B. until parade attendees go through Tompkins Square Park and south on Avenue A.
The route then continues east on East 6th St. for two avenues before turning left onto Avenue C heading north.
The parade will end about 12:45 p.m. on Avenue C and Ninth St.
Street closures:
The only street closure will be on Avenue C between 6th and 10th Sts. from noon to 5 p.m., per the Police Department.
Festival activities:
Following the parade, Avenue C will be open to pedestrians with music, pony rides crafts and more. Fiddler and the Crossroads and Ray Santiago will perform music. A pop-up garden on Avenue C will feature a wellness circle and yoga. Workshops on green mapping, hydrology and composting will be offered. Pony rides, egg dying, flower pot painting and other kid-friendly activities will be set up as well.
