Nowhere Bar Owner Sent Suspicious White Powder, Cops Say
Cops burst into the East Village bar Monday to investigate the suspicious envelope, according to police.
EAST VILLAGE, NY — Someone sent suspicious white powder to an East Village bar owner, spurring an emergency hazardous materials investigation, according to video and police.
The suspicious envelope arrived at Nowhere Bar at 322 E. 14th St. about 1:30 p.m. Monday, according to an NYPD spokesperson.
Police said one person was exposed to the substance but did not appear to have been hurt as of Monday afternoon at Nowhere, a popular queer bar in the East Village that opened in 2003.

A person in an all-white protective suit was seen stepping out of a bar and lying down on a stretcher, before emergency responders carted the person away, video from multimedia YouTube news site ScooterCaster shows.
The NYPD did not immediately have additional information and said the investigation is ongoing.

Nowhere Bar did not immediately respond to an email request for comment, and a phone number listed for the bar was not answered.
