Veniero's 125th Anniversary Will Have Free Mini Cannolis

Veniero's has been in the East Village since 1894.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — Veniero's 125th anniversary is just around the corner.

To celebrate, the Italian bakery is giving out free mini cannolis and have live music and discounted items on Monday, September 23.

Veniero's Pastry, which has been at 342 E. 11th St. at First Avenue since 1894, was founded by Antonio Veniero, who immigrated from Italy to New York in the late 1800s, and is now owned by Robert Zerilli, according to an article on the bakery's history in 6sqft last year.

"My great, great uncle Antonio Veniero was a businessman and he made the decision early on at the turn of the century, to hire master bakers for the shop," wrote Zerilli.

Zerilli's family purchased the building and the bakery in the late 1960s, where he began working full-time in 1981 and took over the business in 1994.

"We take the same playbook from Antonio and that is to purchase the best and freshest quality ingredients and make it 'hand-made' as they did way back in the day," he wrote.
