WATCH: NYC Activists Launch 'Month of Resistance' Against Trump/Pence Presidency

A new anti-Trump campaign called Refuse Fascism was launched Monday night in the East Village.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — In response to the Electoral College's vote Monday, in which Donald Trump was officially elected the country's next president, activists gathered at the Cooper Union college campus (7 East 7th St.) around 7 p.m. for an "emergency organizing meeting" for a new anti-Trump movement taking hold.

The new movement is called Refuse Fascism, and its goal is to stage a "month of resistance" to "prevent the Trump/Pence regime from taking power."

In order to avert "an illegitimate fascist regime of grave danger,” Refuse Fascism called for "diverse and growing waves of protest and resistance beginning on December 19th, reaching a crescendo by the January 20, 2017 Inauguration.”
