The East Hampton Star and 27East have reported that an 8-year-old girl was airlifted to Stony Brook Hospital after having been struck by a vehicle in Amagansett.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. the girl was riding her bike near the intersection of Indian Wells Highway and Further Lane when a Lincoln Navigator hit her. The Amagansett Fire Department transported her to the East Hampton Airport where she was met by a helicopter and flown to the hospital.
Amagansett Fire Chief Dwayne Denton is quoted in 27East as having said the girl was alert and that her injuries were not life threatening. He told the paper that the airlift was precautionary. An East Hampton Town detective told the paper the girl had wobbled on her bike and that “it was truly and accident.”
