Actor Robert De Niro's Father to Be Subject of Film at the Parrish Museum
The painter Robert De Niro, Sr. enjoyed great success during the 1940s and 50s in New York City.
The documentary “Remembering the Artist: Robert De Niro, Sr.” will make its East Coast premiere at The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill on Friday, August 8 at 6 p.m.
Following the screening, Terrie Sultan, the museum’s director, will lead a Q & A with Geeta Gandbhir, the director of the film, and Perri Peltz, her producing partner.
Alicia Longwell, The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator at the Parrish said that “Robert De Niro was a celebrated painter whose achievement was largely eclipsed by the abstract expressionist and pop art movements of the 1950s and 60s. This films chronicles his life through the words of the artist himself, through those of his contemporaries, and most movingly, through those of his son, actor Robert De Niro.”
