The gallery is known for showcasing American icons and iconoclasm; rare books, original art and photography, vintage silkscreens, much more.

MONTAUK, NY — A New York City husband and wife team is opening a new location of their popular counterculture gallery and bookstore in Montauk this summer.
Johan Kugelberg and Dr. Lila Wolfe announced that the popular Boo-Hooray Summer Rental gallery and bookshop would be coming to 649 Montauk Highway soon.
The gallery, located on Lafayette St. in New York, is known for showcasing great American icons and iconoclasm, rare books, original art and photography, vintage silkscreens and posters, and "general ephemeral goodies celebrating pop culture, underground art, punk, surfing, hippies, hip-hop and beatniks spanning the last half century," a release said.

The first Montauk exhibition, opening during the Memorial Day Weekend, will feature a look back at last season in a show called "I Know What You Did Last Summer," opening May 26 at 6 p.m. and showcasing the work of downtown artist Jane Dickson, West Coast artist Jody Uttal, filmmaker Jonas Mekas, Baron von Fancy, and Pat McCarthy of Satan Ceramics among others.
Later this season, Kugelberg unveiled a roster that includes shows from Alan Vega, Carl Johan de Geer, Jack Smith, and Dash Snow, among others.

"Get stoked," Kugelberg said.
Explaining his vision, Kugelberg said, “I started Boo-Hooray 10 years ago as a means of working with the kind of 20th century cultural residue that I felt needed representation in museums and academic libraries. The books we publish, and the rare books and artworks we deal in, provide a broader picture of American culture and creativity, both underground and mainstream.”
