County Set to Spray Parts of East Hampton by Helicopter to Control Mosquitoes Wednesday

EAST HAMPTON, NY: The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat parts of some local salt marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae.

The spraying is scheduled for Wednesday from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m. and will consist of low altitude, large droplet liquid application. The name of the pesticide is VectoBac 12AS Liquid Concentrate, or Bti – Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis)and Altosid Liquid Larvicide Concentrate, or Methoprene.

Should weather conditions prevent completion of the work, it will be continued on the next suitable day.
