Cross Sound Ferry's Annual Cruise Raises $10,000 for Timothy Hill Children's Ranch
The charity event, now in its 25th year, has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local organizations across the Island.

The Cross Sound Ferry’s 25th annual Fireworks Benefit Cruise, held aboard the ferry John H. on July 12, yielded $10,000, which the organization donated to the Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch in Riverhead.
The popular East End charity event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local organizations across Long Island over the past 24 years.
“We are proud of our association with Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch and happy to make them this year’s Fireworks Cruise beneficiary,” said Stan Mickus, Cross Sound Ferry’s director of marketing. “The programs offered by THCR to children and families in need are invaluable, especially in today’s world. Any support we can lend to their efforts is worthwhile.”

Over 400 people attended the cruise, which included a sunset cruise from Orient Point to New London and a fireworks display. The event also raises funds for a scholarship that Cross Sound Ferry has set up for the Greenport, Mattituck and Southold High Schools, which is awarded to a graduating senior from each school annually.
Cross Sound Ferry and Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch have had an ongoing partnership for much of the past decade. Cross Sound regularly donates ferry tickets to passengers heading to the Timothy Hill Cap in the Berkshires in Massachusetts.

“Cross Sound and Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch have enjoyed a great working relationship for the last seven years,” said Thaddaeus Hill, THCR’s executive director. “THCR feels blessed to have a relationship with a company that is committed to helping the youth on Long Island that are in need of second chances at life. The THCR family is so grateful for the love and support we are regularly given from the Cross Sound Family.”
Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch is a 70-acre horse ranch in Riverhead that serves as a safe haven for at-risk youth from Long Island who struggle with abuse, neglect, homelessness, drug addiction and post-incarceration. The residential programs focus on education, vocational training, life coaching and spiritual guidance and seek to help these young people traansition back into society.
