Dog, Partially Blind And 'Close To Dying', Missing In Hamptons
Shayna's desperate owners want to get her home so she can die surrounded by those who love her.

BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY — A 16-year-old beagle, partially blind, deaf, and dying, is missing in Bridgehampton — and her family is desperate to get her home so her last days can be spent surrounded by those who love her.
Mary Nealon said her family thinks Shayna, a tri-color beagle, accidentally got out of the backyard when the grass was being cut.
"She is very underweight because she has a malignant mass in her liver, and kidney disease. She is also very frail, partially blind with cataracts, and partially deaf due to her age," Nealon said.

Nealon said Shayna went missing from their home on Mitchell Lane in Bridgehampton, across from the Hayground School; she was spotted Friday around 12:30 p.m. around the entrance to the horse show property but by the time someone got there to look for her, Shayna was gone.
Nealon and others have been searching everywhere in Bridgehampton, hanging up flyers and trying desperately to find her.

Shayna, she said, has a chip from the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons and a purple collar.
"We know how sick Shayna is," Nealon said. "She can barely eat much anymore and is close to dying. We would just like her back alive so she can die with those who have loved her dearly since we adopted her 11 years ago from ARF."
And, if the worst has happened and her beloved pet is found but no longer alive, Nealon asked that Shayna be brought home so that she can be cremated and returned to her family.
