Don't Miss: '20 Under Twenty' Exhibit Opened Monday

Five Ross School students debuted their work at the Neoteric Fine Art in Amagansett in the "20 Under Twenty" show that opened on Monday.

A multi-media exhibit to introduce young artists, Andrew Davis, Graylen Gatewood, Aiyana Jaffe, Lea Winkler and Geige Silver's work was selected for the gallery's first student exhibit, which runs through April 18.

The students' work was created for their Senior Projects, which challenges seniors to integrate multiple intelligences, cultural and historical context, personal reflection, application of technology and pursuit of excellence in a long-term project.

“We are proud that five out of twenty artists come from our student body and pleased that their creativity and vision will be shared with the rest of the local community,” said Gregg Maloberti, Interim Head of School at Ross. “Our curriculum is built to give students the freedom to explore their passions and hone their natural skills. These students have already achieved wonderful success and we look forward to watching their talent continue to evolve.”

The following is a description of the artists and their backgrounds, as provided by the school:

• Andrew Davis is a photographer who focuses on nature and the environment. His work has been recognized for amplifying the environment’s simple pleasures through his technique.

• Graylen Gatewood is also a photographer who uses her images to tell a story about the evolution of girlhood to womanhood. Her work is simple, but features blurred borders that symbolize confusion and consternation.

• Aiyana Jaffe is a painter whose work brings forward the raw emotions communicated in the human face.

• Lea Winkler is a photographer who uses her camera to inspire emotion in the viewer and remind the world of humanity. Her photos highlight community and shine a light on people gathered together for the love of their country, people and pride.

• Geige Silver is a fashion designer and sculptress who uses unconventional materials to create skillfully constructed clothing.
