East Hampton Estate Of Noted Author For Sale

After her death in June, Barbara Goldsmith's $5.99 million Georgica Road home is on the market.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Well-known author and philanthropist Barbara Goldsmith’s south of the highway Georgica Road estate is for sale two months after she passed away at the age of 85.

Goldstein, a generous fixture on the Hamptons benefit circuit, was also the founding honorary co-chair of Authors Night benefitting the East Hampton Library and a founding editor of New York magazine.

Best known for her 1980 best-seller about Gloria Vanderbilt, “Little Gloria . . . Happy At Last,” Goldsmith’s last book was “Obsessive Genius: The Inner World of Marie Curie.”

The stately five-bedroom/four-and-a-half bathrooms home is just about half a mile from the ocean and boasts its own circular pool according to the Douglas Elliman Real Estate listing.

The 5,000 sq. ft. main house, built in 1900, is a Georgica classic that has been renovated with modern amenities, including an expansive kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, marble countertops and an island. The luxe master suite includes a marble bathtub as shown in the photos.
