East Hampton Highway Superintendent: Crews Opening Drains After Storm

The goal is to give the snow someplace to snow after it melts, East Hampton Town Highway Superintendent Stephen Lynch said Tuesday.

Roads in East Hampton are dry with no ice just days after Saturday’s blast of winter, Town Highway Superintendent Stephen Lynch said Tuesday — but work is ongoing to prevent flooding.

“We are opening up drains so the water has someplace to go when the snow melts,” Lynch said.

Yesterday, Lynch has warned residents to be careful of black ice after slick roads got slippery with the plunging temperatures, but no icy conditions have been reported Tuesday, he said.
