For many people, the annual LVIS—that stands for the Ladies Village Improvement Society—fair is a much anticipated highlight of summer in East Hampton. This year’s iteration, the 118th, delivered the goods.
Kids could ride on a carousel, shoot down a giant inflatable slide, get their faces painted, don costumes, ride ponies, pet barnyard animals and watch a magic show.

Grown-ups who weren’t watching kids could shop for used books, bid on items in a silent auction, and compete to snap up vintage treasures in the clothes’ tent which at moments came to resemble a plein air Loehmann’s outlet.
There were, of course plenty of hot dogs, lobster rolls, barbecued chicken and cotton candy. In short, a perfect all-American summer fair.
