This season the beautiful town of Sag Habor has been transmitting vibrant energy throughout all of the boutiques but one new gem, Havens by KVD ( 8 main street, Sag Harbor, NY 11963) has been curating a space for artist + designers to showcase their work. On October 13th Kim Van-Dang and her husband, Anthony Roberts opened up their doors to a talented artist, Sharon Van Liempt Brown to give the community a sneak peek into her latest series," Energy In Ink."
When they found artist Sharon van Liempt Brown they were thrilled, Kim said “we immediately fell in love with her art. Sharon’s work is brilliant, it bursts with energy, yet feels very zen, a perfect fit for our shop. We were totally psyched when she agreed to hang a show in Havens”.

As the guests walked in, they had the opportunity to feel each painting as it starts with a beautiful storyline where you can interpret the art in your world. Each piece has a feeling of warmth, light, and much more. as Kim stated "Sharon is a gifted artist and a great lady! Her radiant energy comes through in her artwork, and our customers have responded in an overwhelmingly positive way to this collection. We strive to be a haven for discovery - to surprise and delight our clientele, and to instill a sense of happiness into their every day, when they light one of our candles, spritz on a fragrance, snuggle in our cashmere or gaze at their new, brilliant work of art on the wall. When you smile, we know that we have done our job."

It was a wonderful night filled with positive flows and strokes in each piece. It was a beautiful moment in the community, Sharon's showcase was a huge success by not only being a large turnout, but many of her paintings were sold. If you missed the celebration of the release and looking to add a new piece to your home, you have the opportunity to visit her series until December 1, 2018.

About Sharon Van Liempt + "Energy In Ink"

Her mission for painting this new body of work was to try to paint energy. A few years ago she had a deep spiritual experience while visiting Bhutan, which made her feel connected to everything, “ I became aware that I am a part of everything, every blade of grass..every grain of sand, we are all one…energy is our common denominator”. Sharon lets go of referential painting, with tonality and detail, lets go of water color paints and oil paints, and chose for humble tools, ink and paper. “It felt right and organic.”Sharon’s art is powerful. Her brush strokes are confident and energetically charged. The large ink paintings are filled with drama, with non aggressive expressionism, which opens one to be tickled into interpretations.

This element fired up many personal discussions, adding excitement to viewing Sharon’s work. In addition to the larger paintings there is a tight grouping of smaller, 8 x 10 inches, they are inks on canvas instead of paper. They are closely lined up as if to tell a story yet each one evokes it’s on interpretation. These inks on canvas pieces feel more narrative, creating a dynamic balance between whimsical, figurative expression and abstract impressionism. Sharon is a multimedia artist. She has spent her life involved with creative endeavors. Her studies include art and photography at Howard University, cinematography in NYC, video arts at NYU, painting with dutch artist Lux Buurman in The Hague, Netherlands, and design at Asutoria School of Design, in Milan, Italy. Sharon straddles her life between her home in Europe and her home here in Sag Harbor, NY
