Flash Flood Warning in Effect, Road Closures Likely, NWS Says
Stay off the roads if you can.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash warning for eastern Suffolk County.
The warning went into effect at 1:54 p.m. and lasts until 3:45 p.m.

AT 150 PM EDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN AND EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE AREA. ONE TO AS MUCH AS TWO INCHES OF RAIN HAVE ALREADY FALLEN AND AN ADDITIONAL INCH IS LIKELY IN THE NEXT HOUR. THUS...FLASH FLOODING IS IMMINENT AND ROAD CLOSURES ARE LIKELY ESPECIALLY IN FLOOD PRONE AREA LIKE SOUND AVENUE. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... TURN AROUND...DON`T DROWN. DELAY TRAVEL UNTIL LATER THIS AFTERNOON.
A flash flood watch will remain in effect for all of Long Island until 6 a.m. Friday.Â
