Hamptons Technician Stole $100K In Jewelry From Homes: Police
The East Quogue man stole the $100,000 in jewelry from at least five East Hampton homes where he worked as an HVAC technician, police say.
EAST END, NY — An East Quogue man was arrested and charged with stealing more than $100,000 in high-end jewelry from the East Hampton homes of clients where he worked as an HVAC technician, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police, Christopher G. Fitzgerald, 39, stole the jewelry from five different homeowners in East Hampton between April and December 2020. Many of the stolen pieces were sold at a fraction of their worth at pawn shops, police said.
Fitzgerald was arrested by detectives in Wainscott Wednesday morning and charged with five counts of third-degree grand larceny, police said. He was held for arraignment at East Hampton Justice Court on Thursday, police said.
