Hermine's Forecasting Ruins Labor Day for Too Many

Too many folks headed home early packing up for the summer to avoid the catastrophe of Hermine a storm yet to yield any rain or high winds.

Those lucky enough to get down to an ocean beach at least were able to see the magic of the sea when stirred by an off shore storm.

Up island surfers in Nassau County received, "Failure to Comply Tickets," for surfing on a closed seashore.

No doubt saving even one life is important but crying "wolf" for a storm that was never more than mild storm ruined millions of long planned and already paid vacations.

Locals who do not own local businesses perhaps cheered the prelude to "Tumbleweed Tuesday " but restaurants, motel owners and small stores took a financial beating.

In fact Sunday was an amazing beautiful day! And Saturday almost as well. Huge forecasts of flash floods from heavy downpours never materialized.

Homeowners in flood zones no doubt are resting better , but maybe they were played with by a hungry media hoping to get Hurricane Sandy ratings to pad their bottom lines and over zealous politicians months away from an election.
