Iconic 'Arc' House Sells After Government Seizure

The home's unique design was reportedly inspired by an airplane hangar.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An iconic arc-shaped house in East Hampton has sold for a song.

According to Douglas Elliman, the Arc House, located at 50 Green Hollow Road, sold and closed for $2.175 million last week. Bonny Aarons and Janette Goodstein of Douglas Elliman brought the purchaser, Louis Levy, who is the EVP of the Levy Group and Founder and CEO of thmble, Douglas Elliman said.

The iconic arch-shaped home, designed in 2010 by architect Maziar Behrooz, was inspired by an airplane hangar, with part of its layout built underground into the hillside, according to a post on Realtor.com.

However, the home was seized by the Department of Justice after the owner's husband was charged in 2017 and sentenced to prison in a securities fraud case, the Realtor.com post said; the United States government sold the home.

According to the Realtor.com listing, the home is a "beautiful smart house contemporary with industrial flair" including a modern island kitchen with high end appliances, full pantry, living room and dining room with floor to ceiling windows throughout, a master bedroom suite with a fireplace, bath with dual shower, towel warmer racks, three additional bedrooms, three additional baths, a recreational suite with pool table/pong, a gym, a three car garage, an in ground pool with two pool houses , a fire pit and hot tub. The home, the listing says, is convenient to a tennis club, the village, beaches and a local airport for an easy commute to New York City.
