Man Forces Woman's Face Under Water Until She Blacks Out: Cops

He pulled her by the hair and forced her face under the water, impeding her ability to breathe until she blacked out, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A man was arrested after he forced a woman's face under water until she blacked out, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Robert F. Turner, 26, of Washington, DC was arrested on Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. on Gravesend Ave. in Montauk and charged with second degree strangulation, obstruction of breath, blood circulation, causing physical injury, a felony.

Turner grabbed the woman by the hair and put her face under water, which blocked the nose and mouth, impeding her ability to breathe until she blacked out, police said.

Bail was set at $5,000, police said.
