A Montauk First: Beyond Sticks, Twigs, and Berries!
On Thursday April 21, Montauk Yacht Club to host this first culinary event of its kind

Montauk is a state of mind. A huge part of that state of mind comes from conscious and healthy eating. What we’ve learned in the past two decades is that heart disease, Type II diabetes and high cholesterol are avoidable. Eating, not diet, plays a large role in prevention. On Thursday April 21, at 7PM, The Montauk Yacht Club and Gwendolen Bokine (Gwennie on the Go) are presenting; “Beyond Twigs, Sticks and Berries.”
It will be an evening to introduce Montauk to a new and healthier way of eating without compromising on taste. Gwen Bokine, a new Montauk local, and Montauk Yacht Club chef, Paul O’Shea, are planning a meatless evening of tasty healthy imaginative dining along with music, sunset meditation, recipes and nutritional information.
Ms. Bokine has a Masters in Educational Sociology from NYU (along with a Masters in History)and is the creator of “Gwennie on the Go,” which is a holistic coaching approach; via food, activity and stress reducing strategies, engendering a life style change, one meal, one activity and one day at a time. Gwen is a proponent of growing and eating local produce and participates in triathlons and other high endurance activities. And she loves to tend to her own vegetable garden.

The “historic” Montauk Yacht Club is promising to roll out its white-gloved elegance as usual. The open space of the dining area and the large windows offer amazing views of the waterfront. The MYC has one of the most famous bars in all of Montauk. Frank Sinatra brought Mia Farrow there while his Yacht was tied up at the club. For information call 631 668-3100.
