Obituary: Thomas Miller, a retired East Hampton Town police officer, died on Monday after battling cancer for some time. He was 56.

A longtime East Hampton resident, Miller graduated from East Hampton High School in 1977.
He worked as an officer for over 20 years until his retirement about 13 years ago.
“A true local officer and original character, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family,” a message on the East Hampton Town Police Department reads. “He will never be forgotten.”
He also worked for 15 years at the Amagansett Fire Department and for five years at the East Hampton Fire Department.
