Opinion: Hilaria Baldwin is More Than Ok In My Eyes

Hilaria Baldwin is a special woman. All you have to do is meet her and look into her eyes as she smiles to know she has a certain it factor. All one also has to do is watch her husband look at her, watch her, exist in her space to know there is a magic connection.

Covering the performing arts on the east end for 15 years has given me many opportunities to observe lots of celebrity couples both on and off stage. I have witnessed some ugly stuff however I have seen the Baldwins heading to the beach with their children in tow. It’s touching and reminds me of those magical parenting days I had when my children were in single digits.

I believe we all reinvent ourselves, I believe it helps to be who and what we want to be no matter who we were. For the folks who created the headline, “Headless Torso Found in Topless Bar,” picking on a wonderful dynamic young mother is how they sell ad space, create clicks and boost circulation numbers. They know nothing else.

Mrs. Baldwin should not be a clay pigeon target but treated as a mother of 5 cute young kids. She has a vision of who and what she wants to be in order to be her happiest. Who are we to judge who her soul yearns her to be.

Henry Kissinger’s younger brother “Walter,” had absolutely no hint of a German accent. However Henry is famous for his because he wanted to be.

If Mrs. Baldwin wants to be known as Hilaria who are we to mock her? Yogi Berra was Laurence Berra, Whitey Ford was Edward Ford and who cares. Donald Trump’s last name isn’t really Trump and Mayor Bill deBlasio’s last name is actually German. A young Barak Obama had multiple biographies early on in his life. My point, it’s the person, not the name or the biography. I wish I had a dime for all the times I was asked years ago to cover for bogus resume’ notations/ listings by folks desperately seeking a job. Luckily I never ever did get a call.

People are having fun with this whole situation perhaps for a few seconds of irony to distract us all from the horrors of COVID-19! But I can promise you that getting an opportunity to spend any time with or around Mrs. Alec Baldwin is time well spent. I believe her choice to be a mother of 5 is something special. Too many refuse to sacrifice just to have a child. For too many it’s all about them. Mrs. Alec Baldwin is going to have a full life with love from those souls she brought into the world. She will have moments to cry with them and share triumphs. She will be around us for a long time, as will her children. I am betting they all make us proud over time.
