Opinion: I Would Love To See Bruce Springsteen at the Talkhouse
Amazingly Bruce has never been on the magical stage of the historic Stephen Talkhouse. Perhaps it's time to at least invite him.

As a fan of great local music I have had the privilege of seeing amazing talent play at the Stephen Talkhouse over the last twenty years. I have also seen some super stars make their way up to Talkhouse stage to help raise money for various benefits.
In fact on that stage high priced talented local homeowners such as Paul Simon, Jimmy Buffett, Billy Joel, Jon Bon Jovi, Suzanne Vega, Roger Waters and Paul McCartney have strutted their stuff at one point or another, but not Bruce Springsteen. So let’s officially invite him.
Ok, I understand it’s his “work” and livelihood not to mention while on the east end it’s Bruce’s down time, but somehow the above mentioned have somehow made it up to the Talkhouse stage. In fact Jimmy Buffett who is now also a billionaire like Paul McCartney has been the most generous with his time playing benefits at the Talkhouse. As a writer perhaps 16 years ago Buffett had me brought to Ditch Plains Beach, years before I lived there, to thank me for a piece supporting his surfing buddy and then Blue Parrot bartender, Bruce Adams. It was a nice moment for me as a writer.

With Springsteen back on Broadway “live,” no doubt he will be very busy and need his down time to watch his daughter ride her horses in Bridgehampton. Lol Maybe he might show up on a karaoke night (Wednesday) and belt out a Billy Joel tune, you never know. What I do know is this, celebrities are people and every now and then they do random stuff that surprises folks.
I am hoping somehow Bruce Springsteen surprises folks by jumping up and performing on the Stephen Talkhouse stage in Amagansett for whatever reason. If he does he joins historic talent like Levon Helm, Dick Dale, Leon Russell and John Prine who played the Talkhouse before they all passed on.
