SAG HARBOR, NY — It's time for two stellar students to shine: Pierson High School has announced its Class of 2018 valedictorian and salutatorian.
Seniors Leigh Hatfield and Hope Brindle have earned the top spots in their class, respectively, through their impressive and outstanding commitment to academics. Both students are International Baccalaureate candidates, the district said.
Hatfield, valedictorian, is a well-rounded scholar and athlete who will study pre-med in college. During her tenure at Pierson, she participated in volleyball, softball, Mathletes and Feminist United, and holds the title of an All-County Scholar Athlete. She has also devoted her time to the community by volunteering for Katy’s Courage events and the local EMS, district officials said.
