Have $55 million to spare? Check out this amazing property.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — For the ultimate in luxury, here's a look at the priciest home on the market in East Hampton, according to Realtor.com.
The $55 million oceanfront compound was owned by James Evans, chairman of the board of Union Pacific, who died at 94 in 2015; the home has been in the Evans' family since it was built in the 1980s, according to a post by Realtor.com.
"Awaken to the sights and sounds of ocean waves rhythmically beating against your secluded, white sand beach," the Realtor.com listing said. "Repose nightly to spectacular sunsets over the Atlantic — a most picturesque and inspiring view."

The home, located at 32 Windmill Lane, is a 6.7 acre property consisting of two lots and two residences; one featuring 5.4 oceanfront acres and a five-bedroom, six-bathroom main house design by architects Zwirko & Ortmann; and the other, with 1.3 inland acres and a four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom guest cottage.
"The beautifully manicured grounds include a 50-foot in-ground, heated pool with ocean views, and a private path that leads directly to the beach," the listing said. "The Sheffer guest cottage with ocean views conveniently enjoys its own, newly renovated, in-ground gunite pool. Taking full advantage of the natural beauty of the surroundings, the 5,500 +/- sq. ft. main home's over-sized windows frame 180-degree views of the ocean over protected dunes from every room. The definition of oceanfront living, the muted color palette of the interior mimics the dunes in view, allowing the blue sky and ocean views to be the focal point, and set the tone in this serene beach estate."

The layout "seamlessly integrates indoor/outdoor entertaining spaces," the listing said, and dining oceanside is possible any time of year "either on the oversized terrace, in the eat-in kitchen, or in the expansive dining room where the Atlantic is never out of sight. When guests wish to retire after a day spent on the beach, the spacious and relaxing bedrooms — all with en suite bathrooms — await."
Set apart from the other bedrooms is a luxurious first floor master suite.
The property offers the possibility for expansion and development without going through the variance process; options include adding a north-south-facing tennis court and a 60-foot long oceanside pool, the listing said. Zoning also allows for an approximately 12,500 sq. ft. new house with a full finished lower level to be built on the primary lot, and a new, approximately 6,000 sq. ft. cottage with a full finished lower level to be built on the secondary lot, the listing said.
"This property has everything and more that you could desire in an East Hampton beachfront estate, including the sound of the ocean waves beckoning you home," the listing added.
The property is listed with Paul Brennan of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
